Victoria Jacobs Obituary

Ms. Victoria “Vicky” Jacobs of Sumter, SC, was born on July 18th, 1960, to the late Mr. Layrue and the late Mrs. Flora Revels Jacobs. After a life filled with love and service to others, she departed this earth on Friday, April 26th, 2024, entering an eternal rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father. In addition to her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by her brothers; Alvin, David Wayne “Tiny”, and Reginald “Buddy”; her sister, Lolly; her niece, Jamie; and her great-niece, Ellie Jane.

Victoria expressed a desire to see her family again. We find peace in knowing that she was greeted with so much love when she crossed over, almost as much as she left behind here on Earth. To say she will be missed is an understatement--to say she will be remembered is a testament to her life.

Vicky is survived by her only child, Mr. Gary Lee Osborne Jr. (Janasia), and her granddaughter, Mariana Tori, all of Henderson, NV. She’s also survived by three brothers: Mr. Don Revels (Janette) of Pembroke, NC, Mr. Kelvin Jacobs of Mississippi, and Mr. Mark Jacobs of Red Springs, NC; three sisters: Ms. Cynthia Jacobs of Tucson, AZ, Ms. Melinda Jacobs of Red Springs, NC; and Mrs. Miranda Hammonds (T.R.) of Lumberton, NC.

Victoria was a mother to many. None can attest to this better than her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews or any other child who was fortunate enough to cross her path.

She’s survived by her nephews and great-nephews; Mr. David Jacobs (Melissa), Mr. Jacob Locklear (Hallie), Mr. Caleb Scott (Holly), Mr. Jameson Hall, Mr. Jeremiah Jones, Mr. Jonathan Jones, Master Yani Jones, Master Micah “Tony” Carmichael, Master Joshua Jones, Master Jace Locklear, and Master Sonny Scott.

Vicky is also survived by her nieces and great-nieces; Ms. Marianne Jacobs, Mrs. Amber Jones (Derek), Mrs. Chantal McDonald (Shane), Ms. Rachael Jacobs, Miss Sabre Lynn Jacobs, Miss Makayla Kelly Jacobs, Miss Aniyah Jones, Miss Aaliyah Jones, Miss Ivy Rose Scott, and Miss Kaya McDonald.

Victoria was always a good friend and a great neighbor to all she met. One such person for whom she cared, was her best friend and caretaker, Ms. Vickie Bradley Preast, of Sumter, SC. Vicki was much more than a friend, she was a faithful companion, who is now counted as family among the Jacobs’ clan.

In addition, Vicky also leaves behind her beloved neighbors of Thomas Drive, her numerous friends, acquaintances, various service workers;(including her mailperson, her garbage collectors, and others of which she endeavored to show her appreciation for their service), and by many more friends and relatives around the country.

If Victoria had a motto, it would likely have been, “She never met a stranger, only future friends.” She strived to live as the Savior--with her arms wide open, a pure heart and a love for her fellow humans. She’d leave everywhere she went a little better, much brighter and with a new friend, or three.

Although, her life was marred by tremendous loss, tragedy, heartache, grief, pain, and suffering--of which one might choose to become angry and sad--she chose to take all that darkness and pain, and turn it into sunshine, happiness, a positive outlook, beautiful smiles, words of encouragement, riotous laughter, witty jokes, endless conversations, and a never-ending supply of love.

To quote her more recently, “She was too blessed to be stressed.” If you knew the circumstances surrounding that statement, you’d know that she chose to view the “rainbow in the clouds”. May we ever endeavor to carry on her legacy, and to remember that it wasn’t the material gifts that she’d want us all to cherish, treasure and remember, it was her life. A life led for others, a life rooted in the teachings of Christ and His example a life lived for her family, a life led and lived fully and completely. She was truly one of the greatest “gifts” those who knew her ever received.
