Mrs. Valtona Cowan Johnson was born on December 5, 1929, to the late Muriel Cowan and Florain Ann Banks Cowan in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. She departed this life Friday, December 3, 2021, at the home of her son in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was married to the late Robert Johnson on May 31, 1947, and had five children. She was preceded in death by her daughter Margie Jeanette Johnson Thomas.
Mother Johnson was a true woman of God. She joined Mount Hebrew Holiness Church in 1964, then later joined Smith Temple in 2011 where she remained a member until her passing. She met no stranger. She was the pillar of her family and neighborhood. She was selfless, helping anyone she could. Mother Johnson was a caring, compassionate kindred soul. As proverbs 31:28 states "Her children arise up and call her blessed." In which truly they do. As she was loved and cherished by everyone whom encountered her presence. She always spoke kindly of others. She was a model of Strength, pose, hard work, and love for her family.
Mother Johnson leaves to cherish her memories two siblings: Benjamin Cowan of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Leatta Johns of Rhode Island, two sons: Robert Johnson of Benson, North Carolina, Glasia D. Johnson (Cynthia) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, two daughters: Wilhemina Moore (Michael - Deceased) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Barbara Miller (Robert - Deceased) of Monroe, Lousiana, fifteen grandkids, twenty-seven great-grandkids, three great - great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
