Ms. Ruby L. Nellis, 92, daughter of the late Cora Bell Walters was born in Robeson County on January 4, 1932. She departed this earthly life to Eternal Rest at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville on January 21, 2024. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Blue and a great grandson, Zyrique Grace
Ruby, through her youth and adult years, has been a member of Prospect A.M.E. Zion Church for over 65 years. Ruby graduated from Red Springs High School on June 3, 1949. After graduation, she moved to Harlem, NY where she worked and lived for over 23 years before moving back to Shannon, NC. Ruby worked at Croft Metals for over 30 years, until she retired.
Ruby enjoyed taking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Prospect A.M.E. Zion Church and yearly outings to Waldo Beach. She really enjoyed spending time with family during her favorite holiday, Christmas.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Nellis (Ann), her grandchildren, Garrett Blue (Neicy), LaTanya Blue, Anthony “Trey” Nellis III. Her Great Grandchildren, Gabrielle Blue, Markeiss Blue (Jordan), Jayden Turner, and one great great grandchild, Kreed Blue, her goddaughter, Linda "Shirley Ann" Danzy, of Wilson NC, and a host of other family and friends.
