Queenester Buie was born on April 22, 1935 in Red Springs North Carolina to the late Mr. Elsworth Cobb and the late Mrs. Louise McRae Cobb. She entered into eternal rest on August 24, 2023. During the early 1950’s Queen to many, Queenie to some moved with her husband W.C. Buie to the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, MA. Together they raised two sons Ronald and Charles.
While her home in Boston would become a frequent gathering place for family and friends, many of whom were part of the northern migration from the south, Queen never stopped calling North Carolina and specifically Red Springs “home”. While working in a variety of service related jobs before securing a successful job with AT&T she routinely provided spiritual and financial support to her family and friends in North Carolina. After leaving Mt. Zion United Methodist in North Carolina she joined the Church of All Nations in Boston until it closed. Then she joined Columbus Ave AME Zion Church where she was very active until her health failed. Queenester’s joys beyond her family and friends were watching sports, traveling, and shopping for clothes which she wore impeccably.
She is preceded in death by her brother Wilbert Cobb and W.C.Buie.
