Queen Ester (Leak) Murray

Mrs. Queen Ester Murray was born on January 18, 1949 to the Late Leroy Leak and Cornelius McKinnon Leak.  She departed her life on December 7, 2020 in the care of her loved ones in Uniondale, New York.

Queen worked at Converse in Lumberton, North Carolina for more than 20 years.  Upon retiring, she continued doing various jobs in the county.  She also was a caregiver until health issues no longer allowed her to.

Queen gave her life to Christ at a young age.  She rejoined her family home at Johnson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.  She was a faithful and devoted member.

Queen was married to Mr. John C. Murray who preceded her in death.

Queen had six children: her daughter Sandra Leak Buie preceded her in death.  daughter Jenny Kay Leak, of Uniondale, New York; sons William McNeill, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Dana Leak and wife Alice Welker Leak, of Freeport, New York; Jonathan Murray and wife Tonya Faulk Murray, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Albert Murray, of Maxton, North Carolina; and step-son Demetric Murray, of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Queen also leaves behind: two brothers, Lee Vance Leak, of Red Springs, North Carolina; and Alton Leak, of Raeford, North Carolina; five sisters, Annie McMillian, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Patsy Jones, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Mary McNeil, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Priscilla Rogers, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Cheryl Leak, of Red Springs, North Carolina; and Prisella S. Leak, of Raeford, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
