Mrs. Mona L. Barnes age 67 of Maxton, North Carolina was born on June 20, 1956, to late Mr. Roosevelt Chavis and late Mrs. Wilma Chavis. She departed this life into her eternal home Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her three brothers: Lloyd Curtis Chavis, Andrew B. Chavis, and Melvin R. Chavis, two sisters: Linda C Williams and Lisa Crabtree.
She leaves to cherish her memories , two sons: Ronald L. Barnes Jr (Windie) of Red Springs, North Carolina and Cassidy L. Barnes of Maxton, North Carolina; four brothers: Roosevelt (Judge) Chavis Jr, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Jerry A. Chavis of Laurel Hill, North Carolina; Terry L. Lewis and Bobby Dial both of Maxton, North Carolina; two sisters: Teresa Bowens of Easley, South Carolina and Cynthia Chavis of Gibson, North Carolina; seven grandchildren: Cassidy Lee Barnes Jr, James Cody Barnes, Taylor M. Barnes, Nicholas A. Barnes, Christian D. Barnes, Brianne Barnes, and Alyssa K. Barnes; eight great grandchildren: Cassidy Lee Barnes III, Caleb Michael Barnes, Grayson Pete Locklear, Nicholai Lee Locklear, Adeline Samara Locklear, Bladen Chandler Barnes, James Dawson Hardin and James Isaac Hardin Jr and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 16, 2024 from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Red Springs, North Carolina; The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Red Springs, North Carolina. The burial will follow at Chavis Family Cemetery, Maxton, North Carolina. Rev Waylon Anderson and Rev. Luke Jacobs will be officiating
