Mrs. Minnie Jacobs of Maxton, NC, was born on May 10, 1935, to Perry Chavis and Verta Chavis in Robeson County. She went to her Heavenly home on October 25, 2025, at the age of 90.
Mrs. Minnie united in matrimony to the late Curtis Lee Jacobs. She became a devoted servant of Christ and was a member of Hestertown Church of God.
Mrs. Minnie was the epitome of the virtuous woman depicted in Proverb 31. She was instilled with wisdom, generosity, compassionate (but stern as needed), hardworking, and faithful. She embodied the virtue of LOVE.
She adored her eleven children and taught them to love God and to employ His word into their lives. The source of her faith, wisdom, comfort and joy was knowing she had a mansion in Heaven (John 14:2); “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you”, and eternal life (Matthew 19:29); “And everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or fathers, or mother, or children, or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.”
She survived the agony and heartbreak of the loss of five of her children, two grandsons, and a precious daughter-in-law, along with other cherished love ones. Though her heart was broken, she held steadfast to God’s promises (Revelations 21:4)(.”He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying, or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
On Saturday morning, before the sun brightened the day, she arose from her chair, careful not to wake her sleeping family. With her steadfastness and obedience to God, she received her REWARD of ETERNAL life. (Luke 23:43); “Truly I tell you, TODAY Minnie , you will be with Me in paradise.”
Our Mama’s presence of love, laughter and the lessons she taught us will guide us and remind us of our strength and inspire us to live with the same grace and love she showed. We will carry forward and honor her legacy. We will strive to live our lives so that she would be made proud.
Amen.
With her unwavering faith and kindness, she shared the love of Christ and her testimony to all that came into her presence. She loved her family and all of her “extended” children. Her message was to love one another and be kind. Her prayers were for her family, friends and all the people of the world to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Mrs. Minnie was pre-ceded in death by four sons: Mr. Curtis Jacobs, Jr., Perry Jacobs, Ronnie Jacobs, and Gerald Wayne Jacobs. One daughter, Ms. Marie Jacobs and two grandsons, Mr. Shawn Jacobs and Mr. Timothy O’Ryan Jacobs. A daughter-in-law Whitney Holly Jacobs.
She was truly a “Virtuous Woman” (Proverbs 31:10-31).
Mrs. Minnie’s legacy will continue through her children, three daughters: Ms. Betty Carol Locklear of Maxton. Ms. Michelle Jacobs (Willie) and Ms. Glenda Jacobs (Cassidy) both of the home. Three sons: Mr. Randy Jacobs of Maxton, Mr. Ricky Jacobs of Pembroke, and Mr. Roy Jacobs of the home. A daughter-in-law Mrs. Lillian Collins Jacobs of Lumberton. Fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Numerous special nieces and nephews and an extended family of friends. A caretaker, Ms. Joyce Lowery.
