Melissa Oxendine

Miss Melissa Oxendine, age 55 of Maxton, North Carolina was born on May 03, 1969, to the late Mr. Johnny Oxendine and late Mrs. Velva Dean Locklear Oxendine in Scotland County. She departed this life into eternity on Wednesday, October 09, 2024 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her grandmother, Utice Locklear, sister-in-law, Pamela Oxendine.

Many knew and admired Melissa for her generosity, her will to care for others and her good cooking. Melissa adored her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her great nieces, nephews  as her family was everything to her. Although she had two grown sons she also had a special son she adored "Ray Ray". Melissa loved to take pictures and make her random visits to homes of the people she loved and cared for. Melissa was well known in the little community of Maxton and never met a stranger. She always ended her conversations with " I love you" She will certainly be missed by many.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Brandon Wright (Alisha) of Laurinburg, North Carolina; Travis Oxendine of Maxton, North Carolina; one daughter, Brittany Locklear (Wayne) of Pembroke, North Carolina; five brothers, Tonie Locklear (Linda) of Maxton, North Carolina; Brian Oxendine (Becky) of McColl, South Carolina; Johnny Randall Oxendine (Kristi) of Easly, South Carolina; JJ Oneil, of Orangeburg, South Carolina; Elvis Oxendine of McColl, South Carolina; two sisters, Melissa Caldwell Jones (Tim) of Greenville, South Carolina; Dusty Duncan, special friends, Cassandra Hunt, Pamela Broussard, Angelica Hunt, Terrica Dail and a special son, Taizer "Ray Ray" Locklear, grandchildren, Trinity Wright, Brannigan Wright, Eternity Wright, Serenity Wright, Jaiden Oxendine, Trinity Locklear, Jordan Locklear, Aidyn Mishue, Cambreigh Locklear, and Jaxon Locklear and a host of other family and friends.
