Mrs. Mary Ella Blue Penn age 77, of Red Springs, North Carolina was born on May 05,1943 to the late Mr. Halbert T Blue Sr. and Mrs. Amanda Johnson Blue in Robeson County. Along with her parents she was preceded in death hy her sister Tippy Ann Blue and her brother Robert "Bobby" Blue.
Mary graduated from Peterson High School in Red Springs, North Carolina on June 05, 1961. She attended the Southeastern Business College in Durham, North Carolina where she earned her business degree in accounting on August 18th, 1963. After graduating from college Mary relocated to Newark, New Jersey and begin her first job working with the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked with Dupont and retired from Lockheed. After retirement Mary moved back to North Carolina.
Mary was a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church. She enjoyed church and was a very active member serving on the usher board, sunday school teacher, member of the choir, taught bible classes, and treasurer of the church. She was a prayer warrior and loved reading her bible. Mary also enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Mary met and married Clarence Blaney Penn Sr. in Newark, New Jersey and they started their family whom she leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Clarence Penn Jr of Red Springs, North Carolina; and Jeffrey R. Penn of Newark, New Jersey; three daughters: Karen Penn of Red Springs, North Carolina, Delina Blount (Ahkim) of Newark, New Jersey and Stephanie Sanders of Greenville, North Carolina; six grandsons: Rahiem Penn (Rebecca) of Hampton Va; Chedeke Penn of Hampton Virginia; Shamaar (Tracy) of Maxton, North Carolina; Sean M. Penn, Shawn T. Jones, and Matthew Penn all of Greenville, North Carolina; three granddaughters: Rachel Brown, Amber Sanders, and Jasmyne Penn, two great grandchildren, Reagan Penn and Roman Penn; eight sisters: Edna Robinson, Marylin Blue, Joann Blue, Maxine Blue,and Lisa Alexander all of Washington, DC; Jacqueline Whiting (Ralph) Shaun R Dean(Alphonso) of Maryland. Alice Marie Blue of Red Springs, North Carolina and a very special sister Margie Hewitt Smith both of Maryland; four brothers: Billy Blue of Philadelphia; Terry Blue of Maryland;. Halbert T. Blue and Howard Blue Jr of DC; two aunts: Alberta Curry of North Carolina and Johnsie Gibson of Georgia. Special friends: Jenette Mayo, Queen " Pinky" Troy, Bobbie Ann Lewis, Doris Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives and friends.
