Marcus Dean Locklear

Mr. Marcus Dean Locklear, age 55, of Rowland,  North Carolina was born May 15, 1970 in Scotland County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Larry Dean Locklear and Mrs. Mary Margaret Smith.  Marcus departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Scotland Regional Hospice, Laurinburg, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Dean Locklear, parents, Amon & Ada Locklear, grandparents, Coolidge & Ethel Smith, sisters, Evelene Hunt, Martha Butler and one brother, Dwight Jones.

Marcus retired from AT&T after 25 years of dedicated service. He had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing, finding peace and joy in the outdoors. Above all, Marcus was a loving son, devoted husband, proud father, cherished papa, caring brother, and a loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Kim C. Locklear, parents, Margaret Smith Jones and Jerry Jones, stepmother, Lorene Dial, his sons, Patrick Dwayne Chavis, Marcus Dean Locklear, Jr., and Nicholas Dean Locklear,  six grandchildren, Kaleigh, Zachery, Jasper, Colton, Kasey, and Luka, three brothers, Richard Dean Locklear, Jason Dean Locklear (Brandy), and Brantley Locklear four sisters, Juanita Smith Deese (Gus), Cattie Renee Locklear, Valerie Teal (Chris), and Betty Jane Locklear, and a host of other relatives and friends.
