Joseph Earl Locklear Obituary

Joseph Earl Locklear, 77, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Waxhaw, N.C. Born on November 3, 1947, in Maxton, N.C. A skilled tree surgeon, Joseph was a man of profound faith who stood firmly as a Baptist Christian. He lived his beliefs daily through acts of kindness and generosity. He donated faithfully to churches as well as to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children-causes that reflected his enduring concern for the vulnerable and underserved. Family was at the heart of Joseph's world. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters including James Andrew Locklear, Carl Locklear, Brenda Joyce Doster, Catherine Lowry, Joan Burnette, Marie Watts, Barbara Bethea, and Sallie Jacobs. Daughters Heather Ann Locklear and Donna "Nikki" Locklear; Grandchildren Alexis Marie Andrews, Triston Josiah Dial, Ariana Celine Locklear, Madisyn Jade Locklear, Analise Dyani Grant, Arial Elizabeth Grant, Joseph Earl Locklear III, and Cheyanne Rayne Locklear; Great-Grandchildren Henry Oliver Jones and Noah Thomas Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew B. Locklear and Letha Mae Locklear of Pembroke N.C. Sisters Mattie Lou Locklear of Pembroke N.C. and Helen Preston of Tucson A.Z. His sons Carl Brandon Locklear of Denver N.C. and Joseph Earl Locklear II of Iron Station N.C. Joseph's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched-not only as a father and papa but also as a mentor and protector. He was known for always putting others before himself. His home was a place of refuge where needs were met without hesitation. Financially supporting many individuals and families throughout his life, he led with empathy and understanding while offering compassionate guidance to those who sought it. His hobbies reflected both his vibrant spirit and generous heart. He found joy in playing billiards and took great pleasure in gardening-a pastime that mirrored his nurturing nature. Most importantly, he cherished time spent with family and friends. A man of honesty, loyalty, love, and supportiveness. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness for generations to come.
