Mr. Johnnie Locklear “Ponnie” of Maxton was born on December 1, 1931, to the late Jessie James (Little Bud) and Gertrude Locklear (Gert). Mr. Johnnie departed his life on August 19, 2023, at his home at the graceful age of 91 years.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by four brothers: John H. Locklear, William Locklear, Peter Locklear, Hezzie Locklear; one sister Louise Lowery; three sons: Ronnie Locklear, Marshall Locklear, Adam Locklear; one grandson: Allen Merle Locklear
He was survived by his wife Linda Clark Locklear, two sons Nikoma Locklear and Steve Locklear of the home. Also three sons: Johnnie Locklear Jr, (wife Sarah) of Maxton, Donnie Locklear of Red Springs, James Alton Locklear of Pembroke; two step-sons: Henry Locklear Jr, (wife Teresa) of Red Springs, Clarence Clark of Raeford ; and two daughters: Betty J. Maynor (husband Harvey) of Red Springs and Norma J. Locklear (husband James) of St. Pauls; one step-daughter: Loretta Ray (husband Connell) of Raeford; one brother: Ernest Locklear of Red Springs, four sisters: Mary A. Locklear and Virginia Locklear of Maxton, Maureen Clark of Lumberton, Diane Lambert of Red Springs; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
