John Walter Shaw, affectionately known to many as "Bip," passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at the age of 71 in Lumberton, North Carolina. Born on July 7, 1954, he was the cherished son of the late John V. Shaw and Rebecca Haywood Shaw, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
Bip dedicated his life to Christ as a young man. He was a 1973 graduate of Red Springs High School. Professionally, he was known for his diligence, leadership, and reliability, serving as a Project Manager.
Outside of work, he found happiness in life's simple pleasures: cheering for his favorite team—the New York Giants—sharing laughter with family, and creating warm memories that will live on forever. Bip was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Faye Sinclair Shaw. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Jennifer Renee Shaw Cobb of Red Springs, who stood by his side with unwavering strength and love, his beloved granddaughter, Danielle McAllister, and his God-granddaughter Neveah Leach who brought immense joy to his life.
Also treasuring his memory is his step-son, Chris Melvin (Veronica), and four step-grandchildren. His siblings—Lucille Shaw and Carolyn S. Morrison, both of Fayetteville, NC; Foster G. Shaw (Wanda) of Raeford, NC; and Willie Mae Cobb (Michael) of Red Springs—mourn the loss of their devoted brother. He is also survived by his aunt, Geneva Allison, of Fayetteville, NC, and uncle, Bland Haywood, of Red Springs, NC, as well as his brother-in-law, Frank Sinclair of Greensboro, NC, and sister-in-law, Jean Sinclair Owens of Roseboro, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends also hold his memory close.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Willie N. Shaw, and sisters Ruby Shaw McKoy, Dorothy Shaw and Carrie Shaw, as well as one step-son Mickey Melvin. His legacy will continue to guide and comfort his family and friends- a constant, loving presence in their lives
