Jamie Jermaine “Chubb” Gilchrist was born to Mary McLaughlin and Linwood Ross on July 30, 1979. He entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at First Health Hospice and Palliative Care, Southern Pines, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary B. Jones and his paternal grandmother, Ialor Ross Floyd whom both loved him dearly, one aunt Viola Carpenter, a cousin, Virginia Gilchrist who was raised as an aunt, and two Uncles, William Floyd and Herbert Haywood.
Chubb attended school in Hoke County, North Carolina. He loved basketball. Chubb had a knack for making others laugh and he never met a stranger. His personality would light up a room.
Chubb was a fun-loving person who loved his family and friends. He was the most forgiving and loving person you would ever meet.
His memories will forever be in the hearts of his family and will be cherished by his mother, Mary McLaughlin and step-father James McLaughlin, of Raeford, North Carolina; his father, Linwood Ross, of Red Springs, North Carolina; four sisters, Tokesha Gilchrist (Reginald), of the home; Shrondo Gilchrist and Kasheila Malloy, and Franny Cobb, all of Red Springs, North Carolina; three nephews, Jalen Rogers, of the home; Jamarion Buie and Jakoby Morissey, all of Red Springs, North Carolina; two nieces, Kimora Rogers, of the home and Nyla McDonald, of Red Springs, North Carolina; very special aunts who was raised more like sisters, Delilah Monroe, Abigail Floyd, Victoria Floyd and Rosalyn Floyd, all of Red Springs, North Carolina; uncles, James W. Haywood, Anthony Floyd, George Floyd, and Walter Floyd, all of Red Springs, North Carolina; very special cousins who were raised like siblings, James (JQ) Black and Sharoya McQueen, both of Red Springs, North Carolina; Tyrone Strickland and Jerome Strickland, both of Greensboro, North Carolina; Charlene Williams (Byron), of Newport News, Virginia; Nora Williams, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; and Taryn Strickland-Wright (Tavaris) of Fort Worth, Texas; special cousins, Jantzen McLean, of Maxton, North Carolina; Devin Smith, Sr., of Raeford, North Carolina; Ken McLean (Kelli), Rashaad McLean (Brandi), Eddie Henderson, Brandon Johnson, Tyrek McLean, Jarred Brown, and Annie Brown, all of Red Springs, North Carolina; two very special friends, Tobe McKeithan (Kamishia), of Red Springs, North Carolina; and Tony Adams, of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
