James Walter Teague

Mr. James Walter Teague, age 90 of Red Springs, North Carolina was born on November 3, 1932, to the late Mr. Henry James Teague and the late Mrs. Ethel Mae Darby Teague of Jackson, Arkansas. He departed this life into eternity on January 6, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mershell Teague, one son, Eric Teague, one granddaughter, Christina Hunt, siblings, Ernest Teague, Lucille Teague, Cora Handy, and Ida Harrison.

 Jim served in the United States Army for 21 years.  He served in both Korea and Viet Nam; he even ‘jumped out of perfectly good airplanes as a paratrooper.  An expert mechanic, he spent the last 20 years of his career working on tractors.  It was a business borne out of a favor for a friend that grew by word of mouth.  If anyone saw a tractor on a trailer in or around Robeson County, it likely was coming to or leaving from Jim Teague’s home.

 He liked to watch Andy Griffin, Wheel of Fortune and especially WWE wrestling, while talking on the phone with his brother, Burns.

 He worked hard to provide for his family, enjoyed his tobacco and loved Mershell’s cooking

 He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, James Henry Teague (Martha), Helen Marie Clark (Richard), and Deborah Jean Bryant (Kenneth) all of Red Springs, North Carolina; and Larry Edward Teague (Teresa) of Shannon, North Carolina; two brothers, Burns Melvin Teague and Franklin Dallas Teague, both of Kansas. Eleven grandchildren, Jamie, Jenny, Michele, Kimberly, Ashley, Brandon, Heather, Alex, Tina, David and Amanda, twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
