Mr. Herbert "Vermel" Locklear age 73 of Maxton, North Carolina was born on April 24, 1951, and departed this life January 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Mary Ethel Locklear, his sisters: Maggie Sanderson, Minnie Ree Locklear, Ella Mae Jacobs, Lettie Mae Bullard, Patricia Oxendine, his brothers: James Alford Locklear, Alford Locklear, Wilson Locklear, Gerald Locklear, Robert Locklear.

Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife of 23 years: Wilma Locklear, his children: Mark Locklear (Bonnie), Tony Locklear, Scott Locklear, Renada Locklear, stepchildren: Heather Stephens, Jan Benson, Angela Lynn Benson, Jeremy Benson, one sister: Lorene Bullard, one brother: Haven Locklear, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
