Deacon Henry Richard McNeill was born on December 24, 1940, to the late Henry McNeill and Estella Graham.
Henry graduated from Peterson High School in Red Springs, NC, in 1960. Henry was united in holy matrimony with the late Rev. Eula Mae Campbell McNeill on December 25, 1964, the day after his 24th birthday. Henry and Rev. Eula C. McNeill were the proud parents of two sons and one daughter, Richard McNeill Sr., Anthony "Tony" McNeill, and Michelle Carr. Henry often went by the nickname Dickie short for his middle name Richard to his closest relatives and friends. Henry had various occupations, including working for the Red Springs Mill until its closure in 1983. He then worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), from which he retired after over a decade of service.
While Henry always kept busy, he always remembered to praise the Lord for all he has done. Henry's faith in God and substantial involvement in the church led him to be ordained a Deacon of First Missionary Baptist Church in Red Springs, NC, on January 12, 1986—a position he cherished for nearly four decades. After retiring from the NCDOT Henry went on to cofound the Created For You Learning Academy alongside his wife, Rev. Eula C. McNeill, while supporting her through twenty-two years of service as Town Commissioner of Red Springs, NC.
