Mrs. Gertrude Carter age 98 of Red Springs, North Carolina was born on May 20, 1926, in Scotland County to the late Mr. W.T. Lowery and Mrs. Pearlie Mae Goins Lowery, her biological father Mr. Willie Brewer. She went home to be with the Lord Sunday March 09, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. A.C. Carter, daughter, Virginia Sue Carter, four sisters, Anna Mae Cooper, Lillie Mae Cooper, Margaret Locklear, Ollie Mae Dial, two brothers, Jessie Lowery, A.C. Lowery, nine grand and great grandchildren, three son in laws, Herman Lewis (Bucky Boy) Chavis, Donald Ray Oxendine, James Locklear, daughter in law, Lella Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Three sons, Albert Carter, Ray Carter, Rev. Eddie Carter and wife Sherry. Five daughters, Evelyn Chavis, Barbara Oxendine, Mary Angeline Locklear and husband Anthony, Susan (Vicky) Locklear, Sandra Locklear and husband Mackie. Two brothers, William Lowery and Earl Lowery, one sister, Pearl Lemonds, twenty-five grandchildren, eighty-four great grandchildren, fifty-six great-great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild, goddaughter, Carolyn Quick, along with a host of loving family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Scotland Hospice, Erica Moore, caregiver, for the love and kindness shown during the time of Mrs. Gertrude's sickness.
