Mrs. George Ann Barnes age 87 of Maxton, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Mr. Mack Daniel Barton and late Mrs.Magdalene Locklear Barton was born on July 25,1937 in Robeson County. She departed this life into eternity on Thursday April 03, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Shan Strickland and Ted Barnes, three sons, William H. Strickland, Jack Strickland, and Wildon Strickland, three grandsons, David Keith Goins, Robert Strong, Josh Jones, two great grandsons, Julian Strickland, Fermin Cruz Alveraze Jr. five brothers, Thurman Barton, Clilton Barton, Mack Barton Jr, Raymond Barton, Billy Barton.
Mrs. George Ann enjoyed crafting, sewing, baking, camping, fishing, and going out on her ponton boat. She loved her family and raised several generations of her children's grands and great grands. She enjoyed going to yard sales and was always picking up items she thought her family could use.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Johnny Strickland (Stephanie) of Maxton, North Carolina; Jimmy Strickland (Nobalene) of the home, two daughters, Jane Strickland and Faye Clark both of Maxton, North Carolina; six sisters, Erma Lee Bullard, Lottie Pearl Bullard (James Ellis), Mary Lee Bullard (Waymon), Goldie Berry (Kenny), Jackie Dunn (Leroy),and Jan Bullard, great-great grandson Edward Locklear (Ladana) of the home, two great-great-great grandchildren of the home, Naila Locklear, Annalyn Locklear both of the home, twenty -seven grandchildren, fifty-nine great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, one daughter in law, Carol Locklear a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
