Mr. George McCallum was born on August 21, 1938, to the late Mr. George McCollum and the late Mrs. Pearlie Haywood McCollum. He departed this earthly life to eternal rest on Friday, September 22, 2023, in Lumberton, North Carolina. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Mary Terry- McNair, his son, Eric Terry, four brothers, Dale Haywood, Joshua Haywood, Willie Douglas Haywood, Oscar McCollum and one sister, Pearlie Mae Campbell.
George attended Peterson Elementary School. Christianity was instilled in George’s life at an early age by his parents. He worked at Dixie Yarns for over 25+ years and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Erica Terry (Reginald) of the home; three grandchildren, Trinity Terry, Teairra Terry, Nigeria Terry, and one great-granddaughter Aubree Shaw all of the home; three brothers; Bennie (Martha) McCollum, Eddie (Gloria) McCollum , Foster (Landa) McCollum and two sisters; Mary (William) Newton, Katie (Clinton) Brockington, one brother-in-law; Eddie Campbell all of Red Springs North Carolina; and one sister in law, Georgia Haywood of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina; grandchildren, Cameron Banks, Anthony McMillian, A’Keliah Barton, Ameriah Whaley, Eric Terry Jr., Na’kiyah Chavis, A’Eric Terry, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
