Everlana Pittman McBryde Obituary

Everlana Pittman McBryde was born on December 13, 1951, to the late Sam Pittman Jr. and Lena Galbreath Pittman of Shannon, North Carolina. She peacefully transitioned from this life to eternal rest on August 7, 2024. Everlana was the eldest of eight children and attended Peterson Public School in Red Springs, North Carolina.

Everlana married Henry McBryde and moved to Durham, NC where she lived for over 30 years. Everlana was a homemaker and a hard worker. She worked as a domestic, in farming, restaurants, and factories. Everlana was known for her warm and quiet demeanor, strong will, and fierce independence. She loved going to church, laughing, and cooking fabulous holiday meals. Fried chicken and butter pecan ice cream were two of her favorite foods. Her caring attitude, deep faithfulness, and unwavering love for her family defined her character. She found joy in walking, exercising—including countless push-ups and hand wrestling—and watching Lifetime movies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McBryde; her sons, Kenneth Pittman and Daniel McBryde; her daughter, Diane McBryde; and her sister, Lenora Pittman.

Everlana leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her son, Michael McBryde of Durham, NC; her five sisters, Louise Pittman of Hyattsville, MD, Jannie Pittman of Marietta, GA, Patricia Ann Pittman of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Roberta Denise Franks (Thomas) of Clayton, NC, and Carolyn Simpson (Jimmy) of St. Pauls, NC; her brother, Sam Pittman III of Raleigh, NC; and her long-term partner, Abraham Wigfall (affectionately known as Bobby) of Durham, NC. She was also blessed with two grandchildren, Kevin Royster (Shirley) and Precious Puryear of Durham, NC, and 10 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Everlana leaves behind two aunts and an uncle; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her.

Everlana’s presence in our lives was a gift, and she will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her.
