Mr. Don Locklear, 56 of 784 Genes Road, Pembroke, NC 28372. Don was born on November 1, 1968, in Robeson County, the son of James Earl and Linda Lee Locklear. He departed this life into his eternal home on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Don was well known in his community and family for his generosity, his dedication, his hard work, and workmanship as a Tree Cutter and Tree Climber. Don had over 30 years’ experience in the tree cutting services. Don was the proud owner of Lumbee Tree Services in Pembroke, NC. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend to many. Don had a special bond and a close relationship with his father, James Locklear. The love he felt for his family was endless. Don was a person that believed in giving people a second chance, he believed people could change and truly believed in helping others. To know Don was to love him. And to love him, was to know the heartfelt Don. He was preceded in death by his sister, Baby Locklear; his paternal grandparents Baxton and Mary O. Locklear of Pembroke, NC; and his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Nannie Jones of Shannon, NC.
Don leaves to cherish his memories with his two children, Deridre Hill and Don Earl Locklear Jr. (“DL”) of Pembroke, NC; his grandchildren, Christopher Locklear and Lee Barefoot III of Pembroke, NC; his parents, James E. and Linda Locklear of the home; two brothers, Norvan Jones of Shannon, NC and John Locklear (Kisha) of Pembroke, NC; two sisters, Edith Jones (Robert) of Lumberton, NC and Alice Fay Hunt (Anthony) of Pembroke, NC; thirteen nieces/nephews; eighteen great nieces/nephews and two great-great nieces/nephews; a special cousin Braxton Locklear; and a host of other special friends and family members.
