Charlie Lee Wilson was born on October 18, 1943, to the late Junior and Inez Wilson. Charlie departed this life on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Floyd, and brothers, Allen Wilson, Robert Wilson, and John Wilson.
Charlie joined New Hope Freewill Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Lumber Bridge. Throughout his working years, he held many supervisory positions at Lumbee Farms and Croft Metals before retiring from Smithfield Packing. Upon retiring, he gladly took on the role of the neighborhood uncle.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Bernice Wilson, of the home; daughters, Sabrina Colson (Tony), Charlotte Locklear (James), and Brittany Wilson (Rodney), all of Shannon; Ann Jenkins of Red Springs; Charlena Young (Petey); Yolanda Wilson; and Deborah Wilson, all of Maryland. He is also survived by his sisters, Queen Pearson of Wilson, Helen McMillian of Shannon, and Vivian Tyndall (Elton) of Lumberton; and brothers, James Wilson of Wilson, NC, and Calvin Wilson (Bertha) of Maxton, NC.
Acknowledgments: The family would like to express sincere appreciation to everyone for calls, texts, words of kindness, food, and all acts of love shown during this time. Special thanks to his nurse, Heather, and all of the Gentiva Hospice staff.
