She departed this life on March 24, 2021, at UNC Health Southeastern, Lumberton, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by a son Raylen Sanderson, a stepbrother Anthony Carter.

Candace leaves to cherish her memories two sons: Derie Chavis and Carlton Sanderson Jr. both of St. Pauls, North Carolina, two daughters: Breanna Locklear of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Navaeh Locklear of Lumberton, North Carolina, her father, and stepmother: James Earl Locklear and Katherine of Lumberton, North Carolina, her mother: Sandra Chavis, a brother: Scottie Locklear and Stephanie of Red Springs, North Carolina, a stepbrother: Lee Carter of Lumberton, North Carolina, two sisters: Nikki Locklear and Christina Brewer both of Rennert, North Carolina, a host of nieces and nephews, a special friend Terry Blanks, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
