Brenda McEachin Obituary

“ Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also.” – Psalm 31:9

In the early afternoon hours of October 13, 2023, the beautiful spirit of Brenda left this world at UNC Southeastern Health, in Lumberton, North Carolina, after a brief illness.

Brenda Toronto Patterson McEachin was born May 10, 1952, to the late Frank and Illa Mae Sinclair Patterson. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mae Eva Patterson, and siblings Shirley, Catherine, Alvin, Doris, Michael, Elizabeth and Willie Frank.

Brenda graduated from Red Springs High School, in Red Springs, North Carolina, Class of 1971. She went on to work at Burlington Industries and then Unilever, where she retired from in 2016.

She was united in holy matrimony to John McEachin for the past 18 years.

With her booming voice, she loved to laugh and most of all sing. She was always smiling and joking, and rarely ever had anything negative to say. She loved God above all, and her family. She cherished her church family at First Missionary Baptist, where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail. She was always there for family when needed, even helping to raise niece and nephew, Sharoya and Jerry, and grandson, Donte.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  husband John; 2 sons, Harold Jr. (Mary) and Christopher; grandchildren Terrence, Keandra, Delonte’, Tre’, Donte, Crystal, Rose and Jesse; great grandchildren Khamare, Kyrie, Maliyah, Mariyah, DeShawn, Nytro, Precious, Jesse Jr; step-children Harry, Michelle, Charlotte and Jeffery; 3 brothers: Jeffery and Ronnie of Red Springs, NC and Charles Of Maxton, NC; 7 sisters, Mae Hazel, Lillie Pearl and Mary, all of Brooklyn, NY, Ethel Grace and Rogerlene of Red Springs, NC, Merita (Kenny) of Shannon, NC and Carolyn of San Antonio, Texas; 1 life-long sister in law, Beverly of Bronx, NY; 1 aunt, Remal of Durham, NC and 3 uncles, Aaron (Alberta) of Fayetteville, NC, Marvin of Red Springs, NC and Tom of Richmond, Va.; best friend, Barbara Murray of Rennert, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
