Bernadette (Dolly) Locklear Obituary

Ms. Bernadette “Dolly” Locklear Oxendine was born on June 3, 1982 to the late Willie Sanford “Pap” Locklear and Berletha “Bea” Locklear and entered into her Heavenly home on September 13, 2021 completing her journey of 39 years.

Dolly had a huge heart and a laugh that was contagious.  She was a loving, caring, giving, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and soon to be grandmother.  She held many titles throughout her life with being a follower of Jesus Christ first and foremost.  Dolly had many talents.  One that she held close to her was a ministry of singing.  Dolly traveled and sang across North Carolina and the surrounding areas using her God-given talent.  She sang from the time she was a little girl until she was called home.  She sang with several church choirs throughout the years as well as with “The Oxendines” and she currently sang with Youth in Christ.  She was most definitely a late-night owl that loved watching movies with her daughter and whoever else was willing to stay up as long as she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Chico Oxendine, paternal grandparents, Sanford Locklear, and Readdy Bell Locklear; her maternal grandparents, Conley Jones and Susie Jones; two daughters, Mirena Beth Locklear and Baby Girl Locklear; three brothers-in-law, Derek Oxendine, Toby Oxendine, and Neal Archie Oxendine; and one sister-in-law, Toni Oxendine.

Dolly leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Nahayla Locklear, of the home; one step-son Chicoby Oxendine, one step-daughter, Chaquioa Oxendine, one sister, Vanessa and husband Onyas Locklear; a special nephew, Seneka Locklear and niece, Orenda Locklear; mother-in-law Barbara Chavis; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law; special friends, Cora Maynor, Neecie McKoy, and Paulette Locklear; shopping partners, Artina Oxendine, Jennifer Henderson and Heather Oxendine; along with a host of relatives and friends.
