Barbara Ann Anderson

Mrs. Barbara Ann Anderson age 72 of Maxton, North Carolina was born on March 31, 1949 to the late Mr. Belton McMillan and the late Mrs. Marcie Pierce McMillan in Robeson County, North Carolina. She departed this life to enter into her heavenly home on October 28, 2021 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, North Carolina. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Alice Henderson.

Barbara loved people and she loved the Lord.  She combined these two loves when she chose nursing as her career, a career that lasted over forty eight-years.  She was one of the first pioneers in the health care industry.  Her greatest joy was helping people.  The saying “I’m just a call away” was Barbara’s motto that she truly lived by.  People from all over eastern North Carolina were helped by Barbara and her nursing skills, no matter the time of day or night.  Barbara’s kindness has been felt by many people.  She served the Lord by serving people.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Elmore Anderson of the home, son, Gary Anderson (Nina) of Pembroke, North Carolina; three sisters, Janice McMillan of Charlotte, North Carolina; Madius Flanagan of Pembroke, North Carolina; Shirley Goins (Versey) of Maxton, North Carolina; two brothers, Belton McMillan, Jr., (Diane), and Harry Lee McMillan ( Reba) all of Maxton, North Carolina; five grandsons, O' Brian (Ladonna Michelle)  Anderson, Tyler Anderson (Jasmine), Aaron Anderson, Fred Anderson, and Jim Anderson. four great-grandchildren, Aiden Anderson, Tyler Jr, Anderson, Jacob Anderson and Paislee Anderson. A host of other relatives and friends.
