Mr. Tommy (Kenny) Chavis, age 77 of 243 Stubbs Road, Raeford, North Carolina, was born on November 2, 1939 to the late Mr. Kenny Chavis and the late Mrs. Mary Bell Locklear Chavis.  He departed this earthly life to eternal rest on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, North Carolina.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sheila McLean, Margaret Blue and Pearl Clark; and three brothers, Howard Chavis, Leonard Chavis and Donnie Chavis.

Homegoing Service for Mr. Tommy Chavis will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home, Hardin's Chapel, Red Springs, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the New Beginning Baptist Church, Raeford, North Carolina.

He is survived by: two sons, Corey Chavis, of the home; and Clarence Clark, of Raeford, North Carolina; three daughters, Loretta Dickerson, of Raeford, North Carolina; Jessica Chavis, of Southern Pines, North Carolina; and Brittany Chavis, of Raeford, North Carolina; two brothers, Larry Chavis, of Raeford, North Carolina; and James Chavis, of Red Springs, North Carolina; six sisters, Caroline Chavis and Kathy Chavis, both of Red Springs, North Carolina; Patty Faye Chavis, Annie Chavis and Mary Lewis Sturdivant, all of Raeford, North Carolina; and Jane Ellen Jacobs, of Lumberton, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a special friend and neighbor, Jerome "Peedie" Buie and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home, Red Springs, North Carolina.
