Sammy Joe Bailey, of Pembroke, North Carolina, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly.

Born on April 18, 1940, Sammy was a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and making an honest living. He spent many years working as a heavy crane operator, a career that required strength, skill, and dedication.

But there was much more to Sammy than the work he did.

He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He was married to Sondra Faye Bailey and was the proud father of four children: Sammy Joe Bailey Jr., Sonya Michelle Bullard, Carl Gene Bailey, and Lisa Yarbrough. His family continued to grow over the years, blessing him with five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Sammy appreciated the simple things in life. He loved to read, enjoyed horses, and could often be found watching Westerns on television. Those who knew him will remember these little things—the familiar routines, the things he enjoyed, and the moments that made him who he was.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Bailey; his mother, Carrie Lane; his brother, William James Brewer; his sisters, Jean Bailey and Carolyn Atkinson; and his nephew, Terry Atkinson.

The passing of someone we love leaves an emptiness that words can never completely describe. While Sammy's family will deeply feel his absence, they will also carry with them the memories of the years they shared, the lessons he taught them, and the love of a family he helped build.

His story does not end with his passing. It lives on through his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandson, and everyone whose life was touched by knowing him.
