Mrs. Myrtle Ruth "Mirt" Chavis age 95 of Rowland, North Carolina was born on May 16, 1928, to the late Mr. Hudler Hunt and late Mrs. Naomi Brooks Hunt in Robeson County. She departed this life into her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William Harris Chavis, one son, Bobby Harris Chavis, brother, George "Bud" Hunt, sisters, Geneva Hunt Clark and Betty Lou Hunt Graham.

She leaves to cherish her memories, five sons, Ronnie Chavis, Purdie Chavis (Cathy), Timothy Chavis, Steve Chavis (Frieda), Sammy Chavis all of Rowland, North Carolina; five daughters, Diane Chavis Bartley (Jimmie) of Harrisburg, North Carolina; Janice Chavis Locklear of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Naomi Jane Chavis Lambert (Johnny) of Rowland, North Carolina; Doreen Chavis Hunt (CSM Garry) of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina; Jenny Chavis of Rowland, North Carolina; one sister, Emma Julyer (Mammy) Hunt Oxendine of Fairmont, North Carolina; thirty-three grandchildren, seventy-six great grandchildren, sixteen great great grandchildren, A special thanks to Freida and Johnny for all their help.
