Mrs. Mattie Louise Patterson Ferguson, age 87 of Red Springs, North Carolina was born on April 30, 1934, to the late Amos Patterson and Annie McLaurin Patterson in Robeson County, North Carolina.She was called home to Glory on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at UNC Health Southeastern Hospital, Lumberton, North Carolina. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Ferguson, Sr., her three oldest children, James "Buck", William "Scookie", and Arlether "Polly", siblings, Carolyn Harvey, Mary E. Jeffrey, Accie (Jack) Patterson, Bertha (Bella) Gibson, Pete Patterson and James Walter (Jack) Thompson, four grandchildren, Davishio, DeLorean, Zachiah and Alejandro.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her devoted children, Marilyn McLean, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Laura Ann (David) Shaw, of Red Springs, North Carolina; James Ferguson, Jr., of Red Springs, North Carolina; and John Ferguson, of Red Springs, North Carolina; one brother, Amos (Awilda) Patterson, Jr., of Red Springs, North Carolina; one adopted daughter, Andrei (Carnell, Sr.) Richardson, three sisters-in-law, Clara Black, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Hazel Rutledge, of Decatur, Georgia; Maggie Frierson, of Greenville, South Carolina; four brothers-in-law, Cecil Harvey, of Red Springs, North Carolina; Rev. Sylvester Chambers (Geraldine), of Baltimore, Maryland; Norris Ferguson, of Watersburg, South Carolina; and Charles Ferguson (Alease),of Red Springs, North Carolina; twenty one grandchildren, Jacobi, Tiffney, Chatanna, Kenyetta, Danesha, Tahia; Tawanna, Heather, Jameel, Dontay, Devin, Montel, Sandra, Johnetta, Deanna, John John, Simone, Talisha; Junior, Keisha, and Deontay, fifty four great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren, a very special friend, Helen Scott, of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina; special cousins, Eunice Patterson and Kitty, special nephews, Henry Gibson and Bo Pete, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives and friends.
