Mrs. Mary Catherine Blue Pearson ascended into eternal rest on December 23, 2022, at 11:45 pm at Hope Springs Assisted Living in Red Springs, N.C. Mrs. Mary was born on December 4, 1927, to the late John Henry and Luvenia McNeill Blue. As a child, she attended Panthersford Presbyterian Church until she met and married Alvin A. Pearson. Following that union, she joined St. James A.M.E. Church in Red Springs, N.C., where she served as an active member of the deaconess board until her journey on earth was completed. In 1993 she was led to join Prospect A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as deaconess and other positions.

Mrs. Mary was an affectionate and caring person. She deeply valued her family and friends. Her heart was open and readily available to those who needed her, no matter the time or the place. She was radiant and loved all those she knew fearlessly and freely. Mrs. Mary was an angel on earth; although she has transitioned, sweet memories of her will live on.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Alvin A. Pearson Sr.; two sons-in-laws, Lonnie McArthur Jr. and Robert E. Dorsey; one daughter-in-law Gloria Pearson; and eight brothers, Daniel, Lonnie, William, Weldon, Archie, Albert, Henry, and Johnny Blue, as well as two sisters, Lena and Rebecca Blue, and one great granddaughter, Malaya Coleman.

To cherish and honor her legacy Mrs. Mary leaves her six courageous daughters Catherine Dorsey, Shirley Hasty, Betty Carr (Herman), Brenda Burkes (Alfred), Barbara McNeill (Marvin), Elsia Renee Hardin (Harold), one phenomenal son Alvin A. Pearson Jr., fifteen grandchildren, four generations of grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
