Rev. Larry Chavis age 70 of Red Springs, North Carolina was born on May 30, 1953, to the late Mr. James Chavis and Mrs. Lula Bell Lowery in Robeson County He departed this life into his heavenly home on October 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Cedric Chavis, sister, Carol Dean Locklear.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 47 years Linda Chavis of the home, one son, Myron Chavis (Paula) of Red Springs, North Carolina; daughter, Billi Jean Lester of Lumberton, North Carolina; three brothers, James Chavis Jr of Maxton, North Carolina; Johnny Jr Chavis of Greenville, North Carolina; Bobby Chavis (Libby) of Pembroke, North Carolina, Leon Jones (Ida) of Red Springs, North Carolina; six sisters, Ruth Ellen Locklear, Sarah Ellen Hunt, Gail Brayboy (Jackie), Caroline Locklear (Leon) all of Red Springs, North Carolina; Patricia Locklear (Rev. Glassie Jr) of Kinston, North Carolina; Connie Chavis of Pembroke, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and special friends, Rev. Nicholas McNeill, Rev. Jimmy Locklear, Wanda Love Tickle and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
