In Loving Memory of Joyce Ann Tyler December 12, 1948 - August 7, 2026,
Joyce Ann Tyler entered this world on December 12, 1948, the daughter of Jewel Loudermilk and Marvin Shoe. On August 7, 2026, Joyce gained her wings, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and a family whose lives were forever shaped by her presence. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, but perhaps the greatest way to describe her is simply a caregiver. Caring for others was not just something Joyce did, it was who she was. Joyce dedicated her life to her home and family as a homemaker. Over the years, however, the walls of her home held far more than just her immediate family. She opened her heart and her home to many children throughout her life, including foster children and others who needed love, guidance, stability, or simply a place where they could feel cared for. She also helped raise her granddaughter Ashley Fortney during part of her childhood. One of the most special relationships of Joyce's life was the bond she shared with her granddaughter, Amanda Molina, whom she raised as her own from birth. Their relationship went far beyond grandmother and granddaughter; Joyce was a mother to Amanda in every way that mattered. The love, lessons, memories, and bond they shared will remain a lasting part of Joyce's legacy. Joyce was the proud mother of two daughters, Dawn Lopez and Melissa Sanchez, and mother-in-law to Melissa's husband, Carlos Sanchez. She was the loving grandmother of five granddaughters: Amanda Molina, wife of Angel Molina; Ashley Fortney, wife of Brian Fortney; Shawana Ramirez; Natasha Truffer; and Veronica Sanchez. Joyce's family continued to grow, and she was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Alana Molina, Analise Garcia, Angel Molina Jr., Cara Fortney, Emmy Fortney, Javier Cintron, Josue Ramirez, Juan Varela, Juelian Sanchez, Juelius Sanchez, Juelz Sanchez, and Juliet Ramirez. Each of her great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Like only a grandmother can, Joyce had special names for some of her babies. Angel Molina Jr. was her "Lil Man," Alana Molina was her "Lil Mama," Juelz Sanchez was her "Peanut," and Juan Varela was her "Niti." Those special names, spoken in her voice and filled with love, will forever be treasured by her family. Joyce knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. Anyone who knew her knew about her love for a cold Diet Mountain Dew and a Dunkin' iced coffee. More than anything, though, Joyce found happiness in being surrounded by the people she loved. Time spent talking, laughing, visiting, and making memories with family and friends meant everything to her. Joyce shared a special love with her husband, Alton Tyler, who preceded her in death on July 26, 1985. Though she lost him far too soon, Joyce never remarried. More than four decades after his passing, the love they shared remained an important part of her story. There is comfort in knowing that after all those years apart, Joyce has finally been reunited with the love of her life. She was also preceded in death by her father, Marvin Shoe; her beloved sister, Sharon Dixon; and many dear relatives and friends who went before her. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Jewel Loudermilk; her daughters, Dawn Lopez and Melissa Sanchez; the granddaughter she raised as her own, Amanda Molina; her granddaughters, Ashley Fortney, Shawana Ramirez, Natasha Truffer, and Veronica Sanchez; her 12 beloved great-grandchildren; her sons-in-law; and a tremendous circle of extended family and friends whose lives she touched throughout her 77 years. And somewhere beyond what we can see, we like to believe there was quite a reunion waiting for her. After gaining her wings, Joyce was reunited with her beloved Alton and all those she loved who went before her, including her friends from the corner bar. After more than four decades apart, there were surely plenty of stories to catch up on. Joyce's life cannot be measured simply by the years between December 12, 1948, and August 7, 2026. It is measured in the children she cared for, the family she helped raise, the doors she opened, the nicknames only she could make special, the conversations shared over an iced coffee or Diet Mountain Dew, and the countless memories that will now be told again and again. Her chair may be empty, her voice may be missed, and there will be moments when her absence feels impossible to understand. But the love Joyce gave so freely did not leave with her. It lives on in her daughters, her granddaughters, and her great-grandchildren. It lives on in every child she cared for and every friend who was fortunate enough to know her. And it will continue to live on through the generations of the family she loved so deeply. Joyce has gained her wings, reunited with the love of her life, and left behind a family who will love and miss her forever. Rest peacefully, Joyce. Your work here is done, your love remains, and your memory will live on for generations.
"I'm Free "Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I've found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one's touch, perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heat and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.
