Obituary

Ms. Hazel O. Lowery, 91 of Red Springs, was born on September 20, 1933, in Robeson County to the late Mr. Frank and Mrs. Curtie Maynor Oxendine. She went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 06, 2025, at her home She was also preceded in death by husband, Hethrow Lowery, one son, Rockie Lane Lowery, a daughter Marilyn Lowery, two sisters Dorothy Lowery and Lizzie Mae Lowery, two brothers, Bill Oxendine, Vardell Oxendine, and one grandchild Eddie Wayne Lowery.

Ms. Hazel was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and a friend. She believed in hard work. She worked in the textile industry for many years. Gardening and working in her flower beds was a favorite hobby of hers. She also enjoyed good conversation and spending time with her family. She was known as Big Granny by her great grands, and they were her pride and joy.

To cherish her memory, Ms. Hazel leaves behind three sons, Mitchell (Brenda) Lowery, Allen Lowery, Rocky (Janice) Locklear, one stepson Timmy Lowery, two sisters, Betty Barton and Clarice Jacobs, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

The Lowery family would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Hazel caretaker of fourteen years, Mrs. Joyce Goins. She became a daughter to Ms. Hazel.. Also a special thank you to Scotland Hospice Staff, Mrs. Loretta Dunn, Mrs. Noble Strickland and for the love shown during her sickness.
