With Heavy hearts and profound love, we acknowledge the passing of our beloved mother.

Flora Ruth Freeman Locklear, 89 years young went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 15, 2026. She was born in Robeson County, North Carolina and was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Freeman and Irene Chavis Freeman of Maxton, North Carolina, one son Randy Locklear, sisters, Pearlene Freeman Deese, Janie Freeman Locklear, brother, Hubert Locklear (Judy).

Flora Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and a cherished member of her community. A woman of courage, strength, fearlessness and an unwavering love for those who knew her. Flora worked outside the home for over 25 years in manufacturing and was the wife of a sharecropper. She raised her children with a strong belief in Christ, hard work, education, and treating others as you would want to be treated. Flora will be deeply missed for her warmth, her unweaving strength and the unconditional love she not only gave to her family but anyone who knew her. Flora loved cooking, gardening and having family and friends in her home. A community servant when death called to others as she would cook and load her car as if she was feeding an army. No one had to ask, she just stepped up needed or not. Flora Ruth's children were truly blessed to have such a wonderful mother given by God Almighty himself. It's time now to return her to her Heavenly Father with gratitude and grace.

Flora is survived by her daughter, Mabel Locklear Hall (James), four sons, Chalmers Locklear (Bebe), Clyde Locklear, Jason Locklear (Linda), Marty Locklear (Sonya),  Siblings, Sister, Rebecca Bell, Letha Locklear, Flora Jane Chavis, Marline Freeman, Angela D. Freeman, Annette Revels (Kerry),  April Caddle (Antonelli). Brothers, Rev. Clyde Freeman (Jennie), Johnny Locklear, Raven Ranson (Nicole), Stevie Freeman (Cynthia), Clyde Allen Freeman (Tiffany), Floyd J Freeman (Angela), sixteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren,

Flora Ruth's life can be summarized by these four words, Family, Friends, Food, Flowers. She leaves behind a special piece of her heart, her beloved puppy Baby Ruth who was her daily companion till her last breath.
