Edward Dorsey Hammonds Jr., affectionately known as “Eddie,” age 53, of Maxton, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life on October 23, 2026, at 3:15 a.m. at The Valley Hospice House.

Eddie will be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved him. His life was a blessing, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Edward D. Hammonds and Annie Ruth Hammonds (Eddings); his sister, Dwyla Ann Locklear; and his son, Aaron Meshach Hammonds.

Those left to cherish his precious memories include his sons, Adrain Elisha Hammonds and Paul Sampson; and his former wife, Bridget Hammonds, of Lumberton.

He also leaves behind two sisters, Cheryl Locklear (Theodore Locklear) of Maxton and Marie Hunt (Roger Hunt) of Pembroke; and one brother, Dwight Hammonds (Penny Hammonds) of Lumberton.

Eddie's memory will also be cherished by four nieces: Heather Locklear (Brandon Locklear), Whitney Lowery (James Lowery), Emily Barton (Lee Barton), and Brianna Hunt; and four nephews: Randell Hammonds (Christina Hammonds), Theodore Locklear, Travis Hammonds (Danyell Hammonds), and Dale J. Locklear.

He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Though Eddie is no longer with us, the love he shared and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
