He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. Shep and Etta Mae Lowery, maternal grandmother, Martha Locklear, his beloved sister, Christina Blevins, and his son, Hezachi Oxendine (Doodie).

Dexter was a loving Father, Son, and Brother who will be truly missed. Dexter enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family. Dexter was a listening ear when he was needed. In times of need, he could always make you laugh. To know the true Dexter was a privilege; there are no words to describe how he will be missed.

Dexter leaves behind seven children; James Earl Lowery, Tiffany Lowery (Brandon) of Prospect, Sable Lowery of Maxton, Nehemiah Locklear, Kyven Lowery, Tayven Lowery, and Elijah Lowery. His father and mother, Mr. Marshall and Mary Lois Lowery of Maxton; sister, Linda Smiling (Marshall); brother, Marshall Lowery, Jr. (Frances); his Love, Courtney Locklear; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
