David (Monk) F. Floyd, was born in Robeson County on March 14, 1950.  He departed this earthly life at his home in Rennert, North Carolina on May 2, 2025, after a prolonged illness.

David (Monk) cherished his love of gospel music (Lee Williams), his favorite singer.  He loved his roses in the yard and fishing.  He loved his family very much: his wife and three boys.

David (Monk) joined New Hope Baptist Church in Rennert, North Carolina at an early age, where he sang in the church choir and loved the community.

David (Monk) graduated from Oak Ridge High School in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina.  After graduation, he moved to Washington, DC, where he worked various jobs in the city.  During this period, he would return home periodically, and one weekend, David and Lois got married in Dillon, South Carolina.  After their marriage, David and Lois returned to Washington, DC where they celebrated the birth of their first son, David A. Floyd, Jr.  After several years, they moved back home where they celebrated the birth of another son, Jonathan D. Floyd.

David was preceded in death by: his grandson, Jadale Floyd, his parents, James and Annie Floyd, and three brothers, James D. Floyd, Neil A. Floyd and William R. Floyd.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Annie Delois Floyd, and three sons; Kevin Emanuel, of Durham, North Carolina; David A. Floyd, Jr. (Latasha), of Rennert, North Carolina; and Jonathan D. Floyd (Natalie), of Laurinburg, North Carolina; two sisters, Anna J. Manuel, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Patricia Bates (Rudy), of Petersburg, Virginia; one brother, Arthur Floyd (Chearlon), of Georgia; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
