Obituary

Mr. Carlyle "Luke" McDonald, age 59 of Red Springs, North Carolina was born on January 10, 1963, to the late Mr. Carlyle Luther McDonald, Sr., and the late Mrs. Dora Turner McDonald. He departed this life into eternity on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy McDonald.

Luke and his younger brother Jimmy bonded with area adolescents through their participation in youth sports and he made numerous friendships; most of those friendships would endure a lifetime.. Luke found his calling at an area restaurant known as the Dairy Ranch.  Working there, beginning at age 16, Luke cemented his place in the Red Springs community first as one of the staff providing excellent customer service to those eating at the neighborhood establishment and later as the owner of one of the most iconic locations in town.

During high school Luke participated in several clubs and organizations.  Of particular enjoyment was the school chorus from his freshman year until his junior year. From Luke's sophomore year through graduation, Luke was a part of Future Business Leaders of America and this was the foundation that would propel Luke through life as a successful business owner. Luke graduated from Red Springs High School in 1981.

When Garland Arrington retired from his ownership and participation at the Dairy Ranch, he left the business, welfare, quality of food and customer care in Luke's capable hands.

Through Luke's ownership of the Dairy Ranch, he provided work and mentorship to many area youth. Luke's presence at the Dairy Ranch was synonymous with the restaurant.  It is a presence that will be missed by all.

Luke was loved by his family and friends and always gave support to his community when needed.

Luke leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Theresa McDonald of the home, two children, Seth Elliotte McDonald and Morgan McDonald both of the home. Two nephews, Noah McDonald and Trey McDonald and a host of other relatives and friends.
