Mrs. Brenda Joyce Chavis McDowell age 70 of Raeford, North Carolina was born on December 1, 1955, to the late Carlee Chavis and the late Margaret Locklear Chavis in Columbus County, North Carolina. She departed this life to her eternal home on June 3, 2026, at Firsthealth Hospice House, West End, North Carolina. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jessie McDowell and Destiny McDowell, a brother James Fuller Chavis.

Mrs. Brenda enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Her great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Mrs. Brenda leaves to cherish her memories two sons: Donnie McDowell and Ronnie McDowell both of Raeford, North Carolina, two daughters: Tammy Sheely of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, Brenda Lee Oxendine of Raeford, North Carolina, two brothers: Bill Chavis and David Chavis both of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, two sisters: Betsy Adorno and Dede Semel both of Fayetteville, North Carolina, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
