Mr. Alton Lewis Graham, age 68, of Red Springs, North Carolina, known to family and friends as "Viking, "a son of the late Mr. David Graham Sr. and Mrs. Annie G. McEachin Graham was born February 11, 1954 with his twin sister, Annie Lois in Robeson County, North Carolina. He departed this life to eternal rest on Saturday, February 26, 2022 after a two-day illness at First Health Moore Reginal Medical Center in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
At an early age, Alton attended Island Grove Missionary Baptist Church in the Floral College Community of Maxton, North Carolina. Later, he attended Pilgrim Grove Holiness Church in Red Springs, North Carolina (now Pilgrim One Accord Holiness Church).
Alton attended the Public Schools of Robeson County in Red Springs, North Carolina; joined the Job Corp, and from there, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 3, 1972. He was honorably discharged November 10, 1975. He was employed with Croft Metals, Inc. in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina and Purolator Company in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Alton really loved the gospel music song, "Cooling Waters" by the late Lee Williams and would often call the Red Springs Radio Station – WYDU 1160 AM for a song request. Alton's sister, Sue, called him her travelling companion and "Ride or Die Companion" – the person he depended on to transport him for medical appointments, to the store and where ever! Alton and his brother-in-law "Bass" would ride out, gather together, and sometimes sit, watch and discuss his love for the Dallas Cowboys Football Games and such.
Alton was joined in "Holy Matrimony" to Charlotte Lilly Graham, June 3, 2001 in Hoke County, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. David Graham, Sr., and Mrs. Annie Graham; five siblings: Mitchell, David Jr., Larry, John Wesley and Charles; father-in-law: Mr. Willie Lilly; brother-in-law: Brian Lilly: and a special cousin: David Leslie McEachin.
Alton leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife: Charlotte Lilly Graham of the home; his twin sister: Annie Lois Graham McKoy and husband Larry "Bass" of Red Springs, North Carolina; two brothers: Joe Nathan Graham and wife Rita of Baltimore, Maryland and Bruce Graham of Laurinburg, North Carolina; four cousins/friends just like a sister and brothers: Sue McBryde Flythe, Gary "Pee Wee" McLean and Freddie Brown all of Red Springs, North Carolina and Joseph McEachin of Lawrenceville, Georgia; sister-in-law: Mary Morrison of Raeford, North Carolina; mother-in-law: Mrs. Barbara Lilly of Parkton, North Carolina; a special niece: Amy Graham and her daughter: Ayanna Ellison of Red Springs, North Carolina; a special friend: Foster Shaw of Raeford, North Carolina; nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.
