Abigail
Floyd
April 2, 1966 – October 5, 2023
The majestical bloom of Abigail, "Abbie", "Gail", "Abs", "Abbie-Girl" Floyd, age 57, of Red Springs, North Carolina began in Scotland County, North Carolina on April 2, 1966. She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur and Ialor Ross Floyd. She departed this life to eternal rest on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at UNC Southeastern Hospital, Lumberton, NC. Along with her parents, Gail was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert "Herkey" Haywood, and William Torrance "Lucky" Floyd as well as a special nephew, Jamie Gilchrist.
Abigail attended and graduated from Red Springs High School after which she enrolled and attended Robeson Community College where she studied accounting. She was employed with Burlington Industries in Raeford, NC for 16 years and Unilever also in Raeford, NC for 5-7 years. She was employed at Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare and Home Care Services in Lumberton, NC for 16 years, rising to become an Administrative Assistant.
Abigail enjoyed going to church and frequented New Horizon COGIC in Maxton, NC for years as well as Rhyne Memorial United Methodist Church in Red Springs, NC where she was made an honorary member of the Rhyne Memorial Hospitality Committee.
Abigail was artistic on every level as she could draw, paint, decorate, and if need be, build what was requested or directed someone to do it for her. All one had to do was ask, explain the vision, and allow her to work. If she couldn't do it, she would find a way to give her all in making it happen. She was very gifted and talented but humble. Gail never said no—and mean it, giving even when it wasn't hers to give. In other words, she was selfless.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sisters, Delilia H. Monroe; Victoria Floyd (Reynolds); Rosalyn Roseanna Floyd; Janet M. Campbell; ToKeisha Gilchrist (Hope Mills, NC); and Sharoya McQueen all of Red Springs, NC; brothers, James Weldon "Bill" Haywood; Linwood Ross; Anthony Floyd (Lumberton, NC); George Floyd; and Walter Neal Floyd all of Red Springs, NC; a nephew she assisted in raising as her own giving him the name James Quentin Alexander Black; a great-nephew she adored as well as shared a birthday with Noah James Black; 2 godsons, Jamason C. Campbell and Marcus Winslow; cousins, Bert Hutchinson and Annie (Ease) Brown, well-loved cousins, Hardin and Kim Brown; Regina Ross and Linda Joyce Ross; 3 nieces; 5 nephews; a lifelong friend she affectionately called her "Husband" Albert C. Brown, Jr.; relationships she formed over the years at her various jobs that became lifelong friendships; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In honor of Abigail please wear floral print or a bright color.
